The Power of Video Marketing: How to Create Compelling Video Content

First, if you understand anything about my marketing style, you know I love video. I love video so much that I have been using it since 1990. So now, in today’s digital world, video marketing is one of the most effective ways to connect with your target audience, build brand awareness, and drive conversions. We saw this coming in 1999 as the video was just hitting the world wide web.

BY 2007 our company was working with authors and experts to design content for the web specifically. We have not stopped. With the increasing popularity of video content, it’s essential to understand the power of video marketing and how to create compelling video content that resonates with your audience.

This article will explore some of the best strategies and ranking keywords to create high-quality video content that drives results. I will not share everything, and for that, I will tell you to grab my books off Kindle (here is a Plug) “The Power of the 57-Second Video” or simply join the INCubator Networking and Marketing Mastermind, or become a Digital Member and meet us weekly to step up your marketing and networking game.

Let’s Break it Down and Share some Take Aways

Uh oh, Peter Anthony is asking us to do research (this is funny if you have ever read any of my other articles or books. So, yes, we need to research and ‘design’ the perfect audience before making a video. Now, before you start creating video content, it’s essential to define your goals and target audience.

  • What do you want to achieve with your video content?
  • Who is your target audience, and what type of content do they want to see?

You can create video content that resonates with your target audience and achieves your business goals by answering these questions. Check out our Avatar Cheat Sheet if you can get your hands on it.

Choose the Right Video Type

Here is a quick explanation. There are many types of video content, and each one serves a different purpose. Some popular types of video content include:

  • Entertainment videos
  • Product demos
  • Customer testimonials
  • Brand storytelling
  • Expert Explanation Videos (my favorite for teeing up leads)
  • Inspirational Videos (these are great for the personal development and coaching experts)

Choose the type of video that aligns with your business goals and target audience’s preferences.

Craft a Compelling Story

Ok, OK, Ok, everyone knows Peter Anthony is completely sick of the “hero’s journey’ format. I know storytelling is a powerful way to connect with your audience emotionally and build brand loyalty, but only when it is done right. You need to have a story that makes a point, and you need to make a point using your story.

To craft a compelling story, focus on creating a narrative that resonates with your target audience and aligns with your brand values. THAT IS WHY you did the research, my friends, for this exact moment.

Then make sure the visuals, and voiceover create a cohesive and engaging story that captures your specific audience’s attention. We say three things, and we have a tremendous amount of videos on youtube about it. Simple, Fun, and Memorable. Watch my youtube channel and learn why those three words are so important to your video.

Optimize Your Video for SEO

My geeky, fun-loving nerds love this one. We have several great articles on this subject as well. Search engine optimization (SEO) is essential for video content, just like it is for other forms of content. Not creative but needed and important so do not skip this part. Use keywords in your video title, description, and tags to help your video rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). Use closed captions or subtitles to make your video more accessible and easier to understand for viewers with hearing impairments. I love VidIQ.com and highly recommend it FOR THIS PURPOSE. It helps you not forget, it will not make your videos better but it will help get the video seen if you follow the steps and use the tools.

Keep it Short and Sweet

I said this already, but I feel it is important to repeat it. Simple, Fun, and Memorable. Watch my youtube channel and learn why those three words are so important to your video. Here is the skinny, in today’s fast-paced world, attention spans are shorter than ever. To keep your audience engaged, it’s essential to keep your video content short and sweet. Aim for a video length of 2-3 minutes. My favorite is 57 seconds (Another Plug on my book, but hey, I am a marketer), and use visuals and animations to break up the content and make it more engaging.

Invest in Quality Equipment

Here is the tricky part, and this is again a plug into my book (which is free on kindle) where we go over all, I mean all, the equipment you need and make great recommendations for most budgets. Here is my favorite iPhone Pro. Done now you know, get started. It is really that simple. Most of the monster views on Tik Tok are shot by kids with iPhones. The equipment helps polish, but creativity and message timing get you noticed. The quality of your video content is crucial to its success. Invest in high-quality equipment if you want (I have and feel great about it), such as a camera, microphone (THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVERYTHING ELSE), and lighting to ensure that your video content looks and sounds professional. If you’re on a budget, consider using a smartphone camera instead of investing in a budget-friendly camera, and know the microphone setup is crucial (SPOILER ALERT: we love DJI Wireless).

Promote Your Video Content

Creating high-quality video content is only half the battle. Promoting your video content to your target audience is essential to achieve your business goals. Pinterest, FB, Instagram, Linkedin (huge), Youtube, Tik Tok, Twitter (of course), and many others. Share your videos on social media platforms, embed them on your website or blog, and use paid advertising to reach a broader audience.

Now you know video marketing is a powerful way to connect with your target audience and achieve your business goals. By defining your goals and target audience, choosing the right video type, crafting a compelling story, optimizing your video for SEO, keeping it short and sweet, investing in quality equipment, and promoting your video content, you can create high-quality video content that resonates with your audience and drives results.

So grab your phone, make 100 57-second videos, and start now.

I believe in you, but you still need to market!
